Book Review: House of Night – The Beginning

Goodreads synopsis: When sixteen-year-old Zoey Redbird is “Marked” by a vampyre tracker and begins to undergo the “Change” into an actual vampyre, she has to leave her family and move into the House of Night, a boarding school in Tulsa, Oklahoma, for other fledgling vampyres like her. It’s tough to begin a new life away from her parents and friends, and on top of that, Zoey finds she is no average fledgling. She has been singled out by the vampyre Goddess, Nyx. Although Zoey has awesome new powers, it’s hard to fit in when everyone knows she’s special. As she tries to make new friends and maybe find a hot boyfriend (or two), she comes up against all kinds of evil, from the perfect-looking, super-popular girl with not-so-faultless plans, to the mysterious deaths happening at the House of Night and all over Tulsa. Things at the House of Night are not always what they seem. Can Zoey find the courage deep within herself to discover the truth and embrace her destiny?

My Thoughts

So this book is combined of the first and second book of the ‘House of Night’ series. I just finished reading the first book ‘Marked’ last night at work and I just couldn’t continue reading the second one ‘Betrayed’. Let me just say that I mean no offense to anyone or the authors. This is just my opinion on this book. 🙂 One more thing before I start typing, I’ve never really liked vampire books but I’m not hating this because of that.

Ok so one thing to sum it up: ANNOYING!!!

Marked was so freaking annoying that I couldn’t even read Betrayed. Aaaarrghhh, I have never read a book so disappointing in my life. On of my mates have read this book and recommended it and I’m just like:

Like LITERAALLYY!!!

Zoey, OMG she gets on my nerves REAL BAD. LIKE REAL REAL BAD. Honestly after at least 100 pages I didn’t want to continue reading but I thought to myself might as well read the whole thing. There is only one book I couldn’t finish, and i didn’t want to do the same thing to this book. Zoey just *sigh*:

The whole slut shaming mean girl thing was like 10 years ago. Like COMMEEE OONNNN!!!!
